Mental Health Capacity Building Wellness Coach - Education Centre
Lethbridge School Division's MHCB Wellness Team is excited to have an opportunity for a dynamic and innovative person to fill the position of Mental Health Capacity Building Wellness Coach. This opportunity is available starting August 26, 2025 - January 30, 2026.
This term position will support the implementation of division and external funder goals/priorities around mental health promotion and prevention. This role is responsible for developing, planning and facilitating creative mental health programming to students k-12 and engaging school based staff division wide in wellness initiatives and further learning opportunities in and around the topic of mental health.

What will you work?
35 hours/week (1.00 FTE) Monday to Friday
Mental Health Capacity Building Wellness Coach staff have a working calendar that follows the Non-Union 12 month employee calendar.
What will you do?
Promote positive mental health in children, youth, families and communities by providing universal prevention and promotion programming to raise awareness, increase knowledge, build personal skills (such as self-care and self regulation techniques), fostering the development of interpersonal skills and positive community norms.
Build capacity of school staff on mental health by raising awareness and increasing knowledge.
Deliver universal mental health programming in schools to children and youth, grades k-12, through evidence based programs that promote mental, emotional and social well being.
Improve knowledge of and access to effective services and supports within the community.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Knowledge of Addiction and Mental Health.
Comfortable in developing and facilitating engaging programming for children and youth.
Strong written and communication skills.
Digital Literacy.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to nurture a positive culture and team oriented environment.
Takes initiative to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong collaboration skills.
Develop supportive relationships with students and school-based staff.
Experience working in an educational setting.
Experience working with diverse populations.

Education, Training and Experience required:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Services.
Proof of post secondary education, Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED). Education received outside of Canada will require a Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) confirming high school or post secondary equivalencies.
Experience working with children and youth.
Experience working in mental health with a promotion and prevention focus.
Class 5 driver's license (without graduated driver's license (GDL).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide:
A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s license, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
Annual salary range for this position is $53,000 - $55,000 prorated based on start date and end date.
