Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, Gifting & Accessories you will own the day-to-day purchasing, product development, promotional and merchandising activities for specific product sets within the Gifting portfolio and provide strategic support, analysis and recommendation for the structuring, composition and planning of the category. About the Role Contribute to the development of the annual product release calendar. Work on category merchandising activities that are consistent with long-term corporate strategy e.g., seasonal programs, gifting etc. Lead the day-to-day purchasing, promotional and merchandising activities for a category of products. Support the product development for designated gifting categories aimed at engaging LCBO customers and reinforcing the brand identity. Execute the category strategy, find opportunities to accelerate sales growth and improve overall operational efficiency. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, agents, trade associations, and other internal stakeholders like Marketing, Retail, Space Planning and Supply Chain. Meet with Trade representatives to review products, portfolios, identify new product and growth opportunities, and evaluate merchandising initiatives on an ongoing basis. Conduct regular category analysis and visit stores to evaluate and propose assortment, merchandising and promotional strategies that support best-in-class retailing. About You A deep understanding of product development, marketing techniques, merchandising concepts, business and economic modeling, and business analysis obtained through education in Business Administration and/or equivalent work experience. Leadership skills and/or supervisory experience. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills are also essential. Proven analytical & decision-making abilities. Established experience using information technology on diverse and dynamic applications. Established retail experience in merchandising and marketing as well as demonstrated project management, procurement and decision-making skills. Prior experience in the area of beverage alcohol retailing, gifting, related product knowledge and the ability to use a systematic approach to evaluate products. Completion of the Advanced Level Wine & Spirit Education Trust certificate is a definite asset. A valid driver’s license, access to a car, and the ability to travel occasionally and to work outside regular working hours are required.
