Number of Openings: 1 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: The Powertrain Component Tester is responsible for efficiently and effectively testing and troubleshooting hydraulic powertrain large components and small components within OEM specifications, standard hours and quality metrics. Job Description: Set up and tear down of test bench based on component being tested Performs tests and either approve the component for shipping or reject the component based on Caterpillar and Tech Services parameters Provide detailed feedback to the assembly area to the corrective action required for failed components Perform more complex and specialized mechanical or hydraulic tests on the components on large and small powertrain benches as well as the pump and valve bench. Understand and communicate the final test data to the appropriate individuals Ability to perform post-testing work on Powertrain components when required Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on components being tested and with the test bench Collaborate with various internal teams, such as tech services, service bay, and planning to identify and mitigate process gaps Understand and adhere to 3-Star Contamination Control Standards Work in a fast paced, challenging team environment with strict deadlines/turn-around time Qualifications: HET Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required. A minimum of 6 months working Service Bay or EMP Level 3, and/or Assembly or Inspection Level 4. Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C. Multiple years’ experience in the heavy equipment engine / powertrain field, working on preferably Caterpillar components (disassembly, subassembly, inspection, assembly, service bay, or test). Experience diagnosing / troubleshooting engine / powertrain failures. Demonstrated understanding of engine / powertrain systems and can apply that knowledge. Previous knowledge of operating similar dyno’s is preferred. Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, SIS, TMI, WOT and Cat ET. Strong organizational skills and ability to follow work instructions. Ability to work independently. Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively. Able to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds. A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.
