Reporting to the Deli Manager, the Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing salads, meats, sandwiches, pizzas, and other foods, providing prompt response to Deli customers, delivering world-class customer service, ordering, and stocking deli merchandise, merchandising and displaying products, and practicing good housekeeping and sanitation habits while maintaining department cleanliness.
Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well within multi-generational teams, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. They must also have the physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs (22.5 kg). Preference will be given to individuals with Deli experience or knowledge; retail experience is preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience and knowledge of the Deli Department in a supermarket or delicatessen are an asset
Must be capable of operating tools/equipment required for the preparation, merchandising, and sale of Deli products
Able to work in extreme temperatures (freezer or cooler)
Required to lift up to 50 lbs (22.5 kg)
Physical ability to perform day-to day Deli duties including but not limited to standing, lifting, bending, moving, carrying, and shelving products on a daily basis
Ability to work independently
Ability to adapt to new technology
High level of integrity and work ethic
Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
