Function: Job Summary: The Temporary Shipping Operator is responsible for the safe handling, storage, transferring and loading of Granular Urea in accordance with applicable Governmental Regulations, Corporate and Company Codes of Practice, Policies and Guidelines. This will include responsibility for inspecting, cleaning, loading trucks and completing required paperwork necessary to release trucks from the facility Job Description: MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: EHS Leadership Commit to CFL’s Safety Vision and Do It Right philosophy. Maintain knowledge and use of plant safety equipment. Carry out emergency procedures as required in the event of injury, fire and environmental release. Complete plant safety training and maintain knowledge, practicing safe work behaviours in all work tasks. Operate product handling and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Read, understand and follow all equipment Standard Operating Procedures. Review and follow instructions including new policies and procedures provided by Supervision. Understand and maintain knowledgeable of equipment Process and Instrument diagrams. Operate computer systems that support Shipping operations. Demonstrate commitment and take responsibility for decisions and actions. Equipment and Process Troubleshooting During abnormal situations, troubleshoot the product handling and mobile equipment to enable writing or Work Requests for repair. Be able to clear and isolate plant equipment for maintenance activities. Reporting and Communication Communicate freely, effectively, and in a positive way with all CFL employees and customers. Maintain shift logs and complete regular checklists and communicate information to supervision and peers. Work with EHS leadership to ensure the Medicine Hat facility is involved in corporate activities and policy development to ensure the facility can comply with expected corporate outcomes and any challenges are identified to site leadership in a timely manner. Teamwork Communicate freely, effectively, and in a positive way with all CFL employees and customers. Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in day to day interaction with others. Work as a team and share responsibilities and assist others as needed. Other Understand and comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess a Grade Twelve Diploma a valid driver’s license. Previous experience in operating heavy equipment would be considered an asset. Must have good interpersonal skills. POSITION SCOPE/CONTRIBUTION: This is a temporary 12 hour shift work position that includes overtime and weekends. This is a temporary position, approximately one year in length.
