Reporting to Ronald Millett as a Photonic Design Co-op in the Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design team, you will join a world-class team of engineers drafting the building blocks of the next generation of high-speed optical networks. You will use your deep knowledge of the underlying physical theory behind photonic devices, and couple that with the practical skills to create manufacturable high-performance designs. You will help design lasers, optical amplifiers, optical modulators and related components for performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You will conduct simulations of lasers, amplifiers, optical modulators and related components. You will analyze and interpret R&D test results and connect them to the underlying physical theory and computer models. You will be accountable for communicating clear and concise design decisions and related test data. What Does Ciena Expect of You? Demonstrated proficiency in at least one complex optical or optoelectronic simulation tool. Assets: Working towards completion of an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Science or engineering. Familiarity with photonic device testing and/or statistical analysis.
