Job Title: Lead Visitor Experience Ambassador
Reports to: Visitor Experience Manager
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours a week including some weekends and evenings
Job Summary:
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for encouraging and guiding FortWhyte Alive visitors to explore, learn and connect with nature so as to further our mission and mandate.
Key responsibilities include working as an ambassador of FortWhyte Alive through the orientation of visitors with programs, activities and events. This individual will help operate the Nature Shop by providing information about products to visitors, maintaining stock and displays, as well as processing all sales transactions. This individual will have strong customer service, organizational and decision making skills. This individual will have a demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to be adaptable.
Principal Tasks:
General Reception:
Provide exceptional customer service and relationship building with customers, members and volunteers
Foster high quality visitor experiences with a thorough knowledge of FortWhyte Alive and its offerings, including memberships, donations, rentals, programming, and events
Process Point of Sale transactions, handle in-person, phone and email inquiries
Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle visitor inquiries, concerns and how to direct them as necessary
Answer incoming telephone calls, directing them to appropriate staff members or providing answers to general questions
Support special events in collaboration with the Visitor Experience Manager and the Group Services Team
Work with the Visitor Experience Manager to
Process all incoming mail
Develop and maintain a regular staffing schedule for the Visitor Experience team
Retail Services:
Process sales and provide outstanding customer service
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by being knowledgeable of all products offered
Assist Retail Supervisor with product pricing, merchandising, and maintaining store displays
Assist the Retail Supervisor in ordering, reordering and sourcing products
Assist with the ongoing maintenance of the store, stockroom and storage areas
Tally cash deposits, and close the till at the end of each day
Leadership:
Excellent oral and written professional communication skills
The ability to work both independently and to guide other employees in a fast paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective and positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Motivate other team members through the ability to remain enthusiastic and engaged through the whole shift
Work with a variety of volunteers to support various operations at FortWhyte Alive
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Genuine enthusiasm for FortWhyte Alive and our mission, mandate and guiding principles
Demonstrated customer service, handling of money, POS, and data entry experience required
Working knowledge of Google Workspace Suite
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Retail and/or tourism experience is an asset
Experience in hospitality and tourism industry an asset
