Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager and/or following a written assignment or predetermined schedule, the incumbent is responsible for:
Refinishing and maintenance of floors; carpet maintenance; washing walls, ceilings, blinds and fixtures; curtain exchange; and incinerator cleaning.
Duties/responsibilities may also include ice and snow removal, and assisting with flood cleanup and post-construction cleanup.
Ensures proper use and knowledge of all equipment and products in accordance with Housekeeping procedures.
Knowledge of the various types of pads, brushes, floor machines and floor maintenance products are required to maintain the various types of flooring throughout the Centre.
Knowledge of various housekeeping supplies and the ability to replenish housekeeping supplies from a central storage location to other housekeeping closets throughout the Health Sciences Centre.
Adheres to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices, and reports to the Manager and/or Customer Representative all unsafe practices, maintenance repairs required to buildings or building systems, and deficiencies in Housekeeping project service.
Experience
Previous related experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
Classroom and on-the-job training provided by Housekeeping.
Qualifications and Skills
Must be able to read and speak English effectively.
Physical Requirements
Position involves walking, bending, stretching, and lifting/carrying/moving/pushing heavy equipment and furnishings.
Exposed to chemical substances, moisture, odour, noise, vibration, dust and grime and interruptions.
May be exposed to smoke, inadequate lighting, temperature extremes, radiation, inadequate ventilation, battery acid, and infectious disease.
Many safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are required to avoid work injury.
May have contact with patients, staff and visitors.
