ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Technical and Innovation will be responsible for establishing and executing strategies to deliver Innovative and exceptional product quality for Ready Mix, Aggregate, Pipe, Precast and Asphalt products, along with driving the development of the Quality Control function and organization in Central Canada. 1The role ensures products meet established quality standards efficiently and economically, provides regional technical services, and leads the Quality Control team. This individual will be responsible for driving the implementation of Minimum Standards Quality modules as well as leading a team of Quality professionals to deliver consistent, high quality product. The incumbent will act as a cross-functional interface with business lines to drive innovation, consistency and compliance.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
Support local QC teams in implementing safety policies and complying with legislation.
Ensure Central Canada Technical & Innovation strategies align with North American RMX and Aggregates approaches.
Develop and support the commercialization of Innovative VAPs and other RMX, Aggregate, Asphalt, Precast or Pipe initiatives.
Facilitate the development of the annual business growth plan and provide monthly and annual reports.
Manage and develop future Quality Control and Process Control programs.
Ensure Lafarge is well represented on industry decision-making bodies and promote Lafarge's interests.
Lead the development operational implementation ensuring the link between Strategy and Development, GMs, Operational Managers and Quality Managers.
Ensure business Technical teams develop and deliver material utilization plans to maximize EBITDA and support product needs.
Lead the regional expert group to provide troubleshooting assistance.
Provide professional development and coaching to Technical & Quality Control resources.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Minimum technical diploma or University degree in Engineering, Material Sciences, or related discipline.
Additional Education Preferred: Masters or PhD in related fields
Required Work Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of related technical or quality control experience preferably including manufacturing and related industry exposure.
Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal building codes and specifications.
Proven organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent facilitation and training skills.
Required Technical Skills: Computer proficiency in all MS programs
