ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the general direction of the Server Platform Lead, is responsible for the operational stability and performance of all Wintel and VMware infrastructure services. This includes direct support for VMware vSphere and vSAN environments—specifically 2-node clusters with witness and 4-node clusters—and Windows Server administration. The candidate will also assist the Amrize teams in supporting Plant Operations and ensuring ongoing service stability across the enterprise. Strong emphasis is placed on operational efficiency, proactive monitoring, and simplifying administration through automation and scripting.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
Provide mid-level subject matter expertise in VMware vSphere/vSAN and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
Administer VMware vSAN clusters (2-node with witness and 4-node), ensuring performance, availability, and health compliance.
Troubleshoot and maintain VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, distributed switches, and storage policies.
Participate in deployment, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management for vSAN clusters using vLCM and Skyline Health.
Work directly with NAS-based storage systems and ensure optimal integration with vSAN and Windows servers.
Support PowerShell scripting for automation of administrative tasks, reporting, and system management.
Collaborate with the Engineering team for solution design, capacity planning, and infrastructure scaling.
Participate in after-hours support and a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule.
Monitor, patch, and upgrade Windows Server OS and VMware infrastructure per IT maintenance procedures.
Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., encrypted vSAN, secure witness communication).
Work with vendors to maintain supported configurations and operational alignment with company standards.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Level of education/qualifications normally required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
Distinctive qualifications relating to his/her area of expertise.
Specific work experience:
At least 5 years of combined experience in Wintel and VMware administration.
Hands-on experience supporting VMware vSAN in production (2-node with witness and 4-node).
Experience using PowerShell for systems management.
Technical/functional skills:
Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, and vSAN (including vLCM, SPBM, witness configuration).
Experience with NAS-based infrastructure and integrating with VMware and Windows systems.
Windows Server administration including patching, roles/features, and Active Directory fundamentals.
PowerShell scripting for automation, monitoring, and reporting.
Understanding of ITIL/ITSM practices and infrastructure support models.

Linguistic skills:
Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
Additional Requirements:
Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
