OYEP has worked towards equity and opportunity for Indigenous youth and communities since 2000.Job DescriptionWHAT’S THE JOB?As a remote Head Cook, you will play a vital role in the operation of our youth program. You are responsible for all aspects of food production from meal planning, safe food preparation and cleanliness of the remote kitchen and remote dining areas. The youth camp operates for 6 weeks during July and August with 30 youth participants on site. The cook will live on site with the youth during this period of time to provide all meals and snacks for their time there. The Head Cook will maintain a warm, welcome, and professional disposition on and off duty. Your work will include:Be up and ready for work each dayFood preparation for the day, Including Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerCleaning of the kitchen and dishesServing of FoodMeal PlanningFood ordering and receiving of food orders through GFS and grocery store shoppingMaintain HACCP and temperature logsAdhere to Outland's Health and Safety regulationsCommunication with the Camp Supervisor on daily/future planAssist with any/all associated with the closing ceremoniesMaintain a positive presence with participantsWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?Experience living out in nature!Opportunities to continue working year-round with OutlandAbility to expand skills in a large camp atmosphereCareer advancement opportunitiesZero cost of living while working on siteDay rated payFollow oyep.caQualificationsWHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?Individuals who have an interest in culinary, education, training, or socially supportive environments.
