Your Future Job
The R&D Sr. Scientist, ART is responsible for leading and executing technical work from ideation to launch for key innovation, renovation, product and process improvement, and value engineering projects. The role is focused on delivering research and technol solutions for multiple categories. This contract is 2 years.
What You Will Do
Lead and execute technical R&D work on multiple research & applied research projects
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance, costs, quality, and operational efficiency
Research new technologies and industry trends, looking for practical applications and benefits for the business
Lead ideation and technical feasibility assessments for new projects
Develop new and modifies existing formulations and processes in benchtop, pilot plant, and production to achieve technical targets for innovation, renovation, and value engineering projects
Maintain accurate records of all technical work, as well as all required documentation
Lead the development of, or revisions to, SOP’s and testing methods
Your Background
Bachelor’s degree of Science or Engineering in Food Science, Processing Engineering, etc. and five (5) years of related experience in sensory or consumer research, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience working with Canadian and U.S.A food standards and regulations

Advanced knowledge of sensory or consumer test methods, techniques and tools, such as affective, discrimination and descriptive analysis
Advanced hands-on technical lab skills in areas of food analysis, food processing, food structuring, food chemistry and/or food microbiology, including a variety of laboratory techniques
Discerns the level of rigour required for data capture to advance projects and safeguard information
Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills, ability to understand results and provide recommendations
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong technical project leadership and management skills
Ability to be self-initiative and accountable for delivering multiple technical project and objectives on time
Effective written and oral communication skills to write detailed technical reports and present results clearly
Ability to multitask and deliver against team objectives in a complex and fast paced environment
Excellent organizational skills, maintaining accurate records of all technical and project work
Ability to build strong working relationship with cross-functional team, existing and new suppliers, vendors, and research agencies

Compensation, Benefits & Perks
Daiya’s compensation offerings are based on a pay-for-performance philosophy. The pay range for this position is from $75,000 – 90,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Permanent team members may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
