Vertex is currently seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. If you have a solid background in managing National Safety Code (NSC) compliance for fleet and drivers, this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our transportation operations meet and exceed regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do:
Manage and oversee Vertex’s Transportation Compliance Program, ensuring full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies.
Audit and maintain driver logs, driver files, vehicle maintenance records, and trip inspections to meet NSC and DOT standards.
Assist hiring managers with onboarding and documentation for commercial drivers.
Develop and implement training programs, including driver evaluations and periodic re-training initiatives.
Provide guidance and support to drivers and managers on compliance matters including Hours of Service, TDG, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
Conduct internal audits and analyze carrier profiles across multiple jurisdictions, tracking compliance metrics and reporting to management.
Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Team on incident investigations and safety fitness evaluations.
Use GPS and telematics systems to support compliance monitoring and enhance fleet safety.
Travel as needed to support compliance initiatives across various locations.
What You Bring:
Minimum 5 years of experience working with transportation safety and compliance programs.
In-depth knowledge of NSC, DOT, and FMCSA regulations, including provincial and federal compliance standards.
Hands-on experience with driver log auditing, fleet compliance, and cross-border operations.
Strong administrative and organizational skills, with sharp attention to detail.
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Willingness and ability to travel as required.
Additional Information:
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (in-office)
