Job DescriptionOur client is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Consultant. The consultant needs to be an Independent Contractor and have their own company. The contract could be ~3 to 6 months.The consultant will be responsible for reviewing current health and safety policies, identifying gaps, and developing a comprehensive plan to transition from our current state to an improved future state. The work will be done in the client’s office and construction site visits will be required.Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough reviews of existing health and safety policies and procedures.Identify gaps and areas for improvement in current health and safety practices.Develop and implement a strategic plan to address identified gaps and enhance overall health and safety standards.Collaborate with management and staff to ensure the effective implementation of health and safety initiatives.Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety best practices.Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety laws.QualificationsPost secondary diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.10 years of experience in health and safety consulting or a similar role.In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in Ontario and best practices.Experience in Construction work environments is neededStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are a plus.Additional InformationSGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.
