To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What you'll be doing Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), this position is responsible for owning and overseeing the Policy Governance Framework for each of CIBC Cayman Bank (CayBank) and CIBC Cayman Reinsurance (CayRe) businesses. The individual is accountable for monitoring the adherence to requirements within those Frameworks for all CayBank and CayRe Policies, including Policy Inventory Control and Storage. The Policy Governance and Development individual will be the point person for managing the CIBC Global Policy Review process as it relates to CayBank and CayRe, understanding and integrating changes to local policies as appropriate and at times influencing senior CIBC employees in order to protect the interest of the local business. The incumbent will provide support to local policy owners in the (re)development of local policies, assisting to both manage the process, monitoring and provide direct writing support. They are responsible for the communication of new policies and updates to staff as well as the coordination and support with related training. Please note: The successful candidate for this role will be based out of Cayman Islands, however we encourage applicants from all locations to apply How you'll succeed Policy governance framework management - Own and oversee the Policy Governance Framework for both CIBC Cayman Bank Ltd and Cayman Reinsurance Ltd and ensuring edits to this framework remain current and aligned to CIBC Enterprise. Monitoring all policies and ensuring they adhere to the requirements in therespective Policy Framework for both CIBC Cayman Bank Ltd and Cayman Reinsurance Ltd. Policy process management - Developing and maintaining relationships with key policymaking stakeholders, who are senior management/executive level. Completes Policy Inventory checklists and ensures they are up to date for each business line. Notifies Policy Owners of pending cycle updates with sufficient timing and frequency to ensure effective completion. Keeps company policies and other internal documents up to date, ensuring they are stored in appropriate folders and backed up, inventory control is essential. Ensures publication and distribution of all policy documents to the business, communicates and shares policy information at appropriate access levels. Reporting and change management- Reports status of Policy Governance to management and synthesis for Board-Level Reporting. Manages inventory of CIBC Global Policy renewals assigned to CayBank and CayRe, performs routine mapping for CayBank and CayRe policies to identify and fill gaps in the local policy suite. Ensuring accurate tracking and monitoring to completion. Receives proposed version updates of existing or new CIBC Global Policies from Global Policy owners. Performs triage to identify pending changes and makes a recommendation for action to local policy owner. Ensures feedback is delivered to the Global Policy Owner on a timely basis and that actions agreed locally are implemented. Participates as an active member in the CIBC Global Policy Review Committee – reviews proposed changes to Global Policies and represents CayBank and CayRe in those discussions, often needing to influence and advocate to protect local business interests. Business support- Serves as a functional expert in the art of policy writing, provides guidance to local policy owners in the structuring and writing of new policies and material updates. Provides direct writing support at the request of the local Policy Owner. Assists with the routine review and update of existing policies for CayBank and CayRe including reviewing changes made to the comparable CIBC policy(ies) since last update; synthesis and make recommendations for changes to the local policy owner, liaising with regulatory subject matter expert, to determine if there are local changes that should be reflected in the policy update, Support the local Policy Owner with executing the changes to the policy. Monitoring and oversight- Manages approval process. Completes all formatting to CayBank/CayRe standards prior to publication. Assists with development and maintenance of Monitoring & Oversight mechanisms, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness & monitoring mechanisms within and across policies, Advises on the need for related Procedures, Standards, Guidelines. Offer backup and support for the Operational Risk Program and Regulatory Compliance Management Program. Who you are You have a Bachelor’s degree. You can demonstrate experience. Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Financial Services in a Risk/Governance role. Proficiency in writing Policy documents. Proficiency in managing complex processes with a broad range of stakeholders at various seniority levels and comfortable dealing with Senior VP’s. You can demonstrate knowledge. Strong comprehension on Policy Management, formation, documentation and implementation. Strong analytical and project management skills; capable of operating independently with minimal direction while balancing collaboration with the wider teams, keeping the Senior Management Team informed of any and all key policy updates/changes at the Enterprise Level. Anticipating potential problems and/or sensitive issues with regard to Policy changes. Excellent working knowledge of CIBC’s organization, structure, executive personnel. Excellent communication skills. Strong communication and negotiation skills to achieve a fit for purpose policy suite in the context of broader policy needs. Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Relationship Building. You are analytical in your work.
