Job Summary What is the opportunity? As an Associate Director (AD), you will support Directors in the Bank’s Real Estate Markets group. You will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting new loan requests with the use of the Bank’s Risk Assessment Framework/RAF, Financial Analysis and Credit Tools/Newton and Commercial Credit Request (CCR). The primary responsibility of the AD is to partner with the Directors, Real Estate Markets to understand credit needs, changing circumstances, and risk profile through meaningful client contact. Other responsibilities of the AD include daily administration of the Group’s lending portfolio; performing annual credit reviews of the existing portfolio; liaising both internally and externally with various stakeholders in the credit process; and actively participate in other team initiatives (industry research reports / ad hoc portfolio strategy requests / portfolio management reporting). What will you do? • Focus on financing requests in the GTR real estate debt markets, supporting primarily construction development real estate project asset classes and lending product types; • Provide the Directors with specific deal support as it relates to bilateral and syndicated senior secured loans including budgetary analysis, cash flow analysis, sensitivity analysis, financial statements analysis, market analysis, credit underwriting, and funding; • Support Directors in the credit sales process from end-to-end by participating in discussions with a key stakeholders and underwriting capital commitment term sheets, client term sheets, and risk management framework; • Provide portfolio quality management oversight as it relates to managing credit expiries, out-of-orders, and loan maturities; and • Drive team priorities as it relates to Strategic Limit Review management, connecting with clients and other stakeholders to build trust and strengthen our presence within the real estate network. What do you need to succeed? Must-have • Client focus / client-first attitude; • Experience in real estate markets bank lending, financial statement and underwriting analysis; • Good real estate market analytical skills (understanding of financial concepts and applications); • Strong computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel); • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; • Must be independent worker and team player with a positive attitude; • Motivated proactive thinker with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach; • Regularly working collaboratively and in-person in an office environment; • Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of programs and systems employed by the Bank; and • Ongoing and consistent adoption of the Banks goals and core values. Nice-to-have • 3+ years’ experience in development/construction real estate underwriting (lending preferred) • MBA, Accounting designation (CPA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) • Strong industry / market knowledge of the commercial real estate sector What’s in it for you?
