Unposting Date: 2025-05-18 11:59 PM This is a full-time producer position assigned primarily to the radio afternoon show Au coeur du monde, serving Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands. Your role Plan, conceive, organize and/or develop the production and realization of a program. Work must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and/or programming policies, standards and practices, and as Producer, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that this occurs. Nevertheless, there is wide latitude for initiative, independent judgment and creativity. There is also a regular and ongoing requirement to co-ordinate the work of your team members. Community: As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You understand the diverse and changing population in the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands, as well as the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content. Culture: You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. You have a solid understanding of the diverse culture of the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands. Key tasks: Conceive and develop program ideas and concepts. Participate in the preparation of program objectives. Develop the program content, including assigning, researching, writing, editing and/or managing the digital presence. As required, commission writing and/or research. Prepare scripts; determine the style, pace, tempo, lineup and format of the program. Plan, organize and co-ordinate the program or components and/or segments of a program. Plan, select and request, in conjunction with the Senior Manager, the financial and production/resource requirements, including creative contributors and other participants, material and facilities. During program preparation, production and post-production, be responsible and accountable for exercising budget authority. Exercise editorial responsibility as delegated by management. Evaluate all facets of production, including performance of program and production staff as well as freelance contributors. Your profile: University degree or equivalent At least two (2) years’ experience in broadcasting or a related field directly relevant to the assignment Familiarity with storytelling on radio and online Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices Excellent and creative writing ability that will engage the audience Skills in digital editing and post-production mixing Proven experience with cross-platform and multimedia work Ability to identify opportunities for turning radio content into television and online video, and vice versa Working knowledge of all CBC/Radio-Canada platforms Ability to develop internal and external relationships to ensure content reaches different audiences, on different platforms, through a range of media Highly developed administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills Good editorial judgment and critical-thinking skills Knowledge of and interest in events and issues that matter to Gaspé, Magdalen Islands and Eastern Quebec residents Strong understanding of Gaspé and Magdalen Islands culture and heritage Proven conflict-resolution skills Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond to competing demands in a deadline-driven environment Program presentation experience is an asset Strong knowledge of French; English is an asset Ability to handle stress and to work under pressure Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production Please provide a resumé in French, a cover letter and include a link to your website or video in your application.
