Engineering Technician/Technologist Co-op Student

Reporting to the Assets & Engineering Supervisor, this position will assist Engineering staff with distribution design, drafting, field inspections, customer service, record keeping, and various other duties. This co-op placement can be either a 4-month or 8-month term, planned to begin in the Fall of 2025.
Responsibilities:
Work within company values and policies at all times.
Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Work with various departments within the Lakeland Holding group of companies in a professional manner.
Assist with the design of overhead and underground distribution infrastructure.
Assist with the review of joint-use partner applications and engineered drawings.
Assist in computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, SpidaCalc).
Work with Microsoft-based software such as Word, Excel, etc.
Complete field inspections to determine the condition of assets and compliance with standard construction.
Conduct site visits to gather field data for design or records purposes, pole staking, and inspections.
Assist with ESA Reg. 22/04 documentation for yearly audits.
Provide updates to the GIS team.
Work safely around moving and energized apparatus.
Work effectively and safely in a team environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Must be enrolled in a two or three-year Electrical Technician/Technologist Diploma program.
Knowledge: Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and comprehensive electrical theory is an asset.
Skills: Applicant must be detail-oriented and work positively in a team environment. Must be adept at interacting constructively (both verbally and in writing) with customers and other employees. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Proficiency with AutoCAD and SpidaCalc is an asset.
Other: Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s Licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract.
