About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for Temporary Full Time Senior Project Managers to join our dynamic Organ & Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) team.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the planning, management, development, implementation and evaluation of complex projects and initiatives that advance the performance of the organ and tissue donation and transplantation (OTDT) system in Canada.
In this role, you will work in collaboration with the OTDT team, its medical advisors, the regional organ donation organizations and transplant programs, professional societies, health care professionals, the eye and tissue banks, HLA laboratories, CBS advisory committees, Health Canada and the Organ Donation and Transplantation Collaborative, national and international research experts, as well as patient and public partners, including donors and their families, to advance and improve the performance and quality of the OTDT system in Canada.
Formula for Success
Leveraging your project management experience, you will lead or participate in the development of project business cases for complex, multi-year projects.
Utilizing your collaboration skills, you will work with the project team and steering committee to recruit project team members, while leveraging your leadership and engagement skills to oversee, support and direct project team members in staying engaged with the plan and effectively accomplishing the goals and objectives of the project.
Drawing on your project leadership experience, you will monitor and document the overall project plan and budget, ensuring the project meets timelines, targets and expectations based on the established parameters, providing regular project status updates to all key partners on behalf of the project team.
Utilizing your communication, teamwork skills, and project experience, you will coordinate the activities of the project team, steering committee, internal and external partners to develop the project plan, define deliverables, identify roles and responsibilities, establish timelines and communications, training strategies, implementation and evaluation strategies, risk management, costs, transition, and close-out plans.
Drawing on your decision-making expertise, you will make decisions that impact project deliverables, costs, and timelines, which will impact other business areas.
Your risk management expertise will be utilized to identify, monitor, and mitigate substantial risks, with implications beyond the project.
Desired Education and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, science or equivalent.
10+ years experience managing complex projects with large teams, budgets, and multiple stakeholders at an executive level.
Certification in Project Management, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
Subject matter expertise relevant to the nature of the projects assigned.
Experience managing new product or process introduction in the regulated environment is an asset.
Experience managing and implementing process change within a unionized workforce environment is an asset.
Experience navigating competing priorities and deadlines on complex or sensitive projects, including developing and maintaining project documents and presenting in an executive setting.
Ability to build good relationships, to assign, coordinate and manage the project activities of team members
