Job Description: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Fraud Risk Management team in proactively preventing, detecting, and mitigating fraud risks. Sun Life’s Fraud Risk Management team is an industry leader with focus is on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery related to fraudulent claims and plan abuse. Reporting to the Vice-President, Operational Risk, the AVP, Fraud Risk Management will lead, develop and execute fraud prevention strategies, ensure effective fraud detection and mitigation, and oversee fraud risk assessments and reporting. The role will also monitor emerging fraud trends, developing policies and procedures, evaluating new tools and processes to enhance detection, reporting on overall Fraud losses and trends. What you will be doing: Own, manage, and evolve fraud prevention strategies including the fraud risk policies and standards to ensure a consistent and appropriate approach in how fraud risk is governed and managed. Provide leadership, clear direction and guidance to the Fraud Risk Management operations teams specifically on the delivery, implementation and execution of the fraud risk framework. Oversee and monitor adherence to fraud risk policies, fraud transaction monitoring, fraud alerts, and investigative procedures. Provide subject matter expertise on Fraud Risk Management, drawing on financial intelligence and law enforcement networks, professional qualifications and experience. Analyze fraud trends, patterns, and emerging risks, developing strategies to counteract fraud threats. Work in collaboration with Business Analytics and IT to develop enhanced reporting and steer the development of data analytics driven fraud screening processes and related investigative practices. Develop strategies to monitor and improve the quality and efficiency of investigative practices including our approach to complex and high risk cases. Ensure investigative processes comply with all applicable Corporate policies and standards (Fraud Risk Management, Operational Risk, Privacy etc.) Solve escalated customer/plan sponsor issues balancing both the needs of the business and the customer avoiding or mitigating broader ramifications including risk to reputation, advisor relationship, customer retention and satisfaction, and legal action. Represent FRM at various risk and compliance committees as required to present investigative results or risk mitigation improvement recommendations. Participate in industry events, conferences, and speaking engagements professionally representing SLF, as it relates to FRM operations/practices. Oversee the development, management and monitoring of the FRM annual budget to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and targets. What you need to succeed: Possess an excellent understanding of Fraud Risk Management, attained by working a minimum of 10+ years in a leadership capacity Proven track record running large FRM team where there is a significant amount of governance and oversight from corporate offices Strategic thinker, ability to see opportunities to develop enhanced processes leading to improved business outcomes Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, Able to handle escalated fraud and claim situations. Strong organizational skills to deal with many client items that routinely need urgent attention and changing business priorities Ability to work in partnership with many related areas to successfully achieve business outcomes Proven influencing skills in the development and leveraging relationships within Operations and across the organization Strong presentation skills required and a demonstrated degree of professionalism Ability to achieve short term goals while maintaining long range vision 10+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree with emphasis in relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
