The Opportunity:
As part of the Safety & Compliance team, the Driver Safety Coordinator recognizes, analyzes and assesses risk through the Company’s various systems to target driver behaviour. The Driver Safety Coordinator enforces the laws and policies prescribed by the Company and federal legislation.
Key Accountabilities:
Completes accident reviews, investigations, coaching and retraining
Tracks critical events and notifications
Manages hours of service tracking
Provides coaching to drivers on areas relating to driver safety
Conducts driver exit interviews and driver safety performance reviews
Administers Carrier’s Edge Online Training System
Responds to safety inquiries and external motorists complaints
Performs other duties as required
What You Need To Be Successful In This Role:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Health and Safety or a related field
Two to three years of related experience
Knowledge of Hours of Service regulations for both Canada and the US
Knowledge of current workplace health and safety issues, Health and Safety Legislation and the Canada Labour Code
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
Experience in the transportation industry, including former experience as a driver is considered to be an asset
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently on projects
Positive, outgoing and friendly personality
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
Strong verbal communication skills, relationship building and interpersonal skills
Proactive attitude, takes initiative to prevent issues, and has a bias towards action
Well-organized, enthusiastic, professional and a positive team member
