Job Summary Job Description What is the opportunity? The Wills and Trusts Resource Group (WTRG) is the principal resource facility providing estate, trust, and incapacity technical and legal support to Canadian Wealth Management employees. As Manager, Civil Law, you will oversee a team of estate and trust specialists who provide this dedicated support to our partners located in Québec. What will you do? Lead and oversee a team of civil law estate and trust specialists responsible for the review of estate and trust account documentation, power of attorney matters, and for providing technical assistance, analysis, and recommendations on estate and trust account issues, power of attorney issues, and disbursement issues to our wealth management business partners. Research, analyze, and oversee complex estate, trust, and incapacity issues escalated by Canadian Wealth Management partners and WTRG staff, utilizing knowledge of relevant jurisdictional laws and principles, and serving as an escalation point for civil law consultants on complex issues. Support the Senior Manager with oversight of WTRG civil law issues (technical and procedural). Responsible for the proposal, creation, and implementation of strategic initiatives pertaining to civil law matters. Assist Canadian Wealth Management partners in the review and development of proposed policies and guidelines related to estate, trust, and incapacity account administration issues to manage risk and to promote business practice consistency across all lines of business. Make reasoned and informed recommendations to the wealth management business regarding the support of estate, trust, and incapacity issues. Accept and successfully execute change while supporting employees through the process, ensuring they remain focused on business priorities. What do you need to succeed? Must-have Undergraduate degree in law (LL.B. or LL.L.) Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs Member in good standing with the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec Proven interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills Basic knowledge of Estate and Trust law principles in Québec Demonstrated leadership and people management skills Excellent research and writing skills Nice-to-have Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation, an asset What’s in it for you?
