Full-time position (35 hours per week)
Hours: 35 hours/week, 8am-4pm, with evenings and occasional weekends required
Job Summary:
The Program and Employment Skills Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation and facilitation of FortWhyte Farm’s programs, to build relationships and mentor youth in personal and professional growth, career development, nutrition and wellness education, and life skills training. Other duties include assisting with program evaluation and reporting as well as tasks relevant to sustainable urban-based agriculture, culinary arts, woodworking, and social enterprise.
Principal Tasks:
Coordination of year-round programs that specifically address personal development, leadership skills and employability of FortWhyte Farms youth participants, Summer Employment Program Junior Staff and Leadership Program participants
Create partnerships to develop outside learning, training and community service opportunities for youth program participants
Seek and maintain relationships with employers, employment services, educational institutions or training programs to support bridging youth to future opportunities
Train and support program volunteers with assistance from FortWhyte Alive’s Volunteer Manager
Assist in maintaining evaluation metrics of defined program outcomes and compile the findings with the Farm Social Impact Manager
Maintain and recruit partner agencies, schedule programs and maintain attendance records
Assist with training and scheduling seasonal program staff
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, training and supervising youth staff
Provide transportation as required
Qualifications Required:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Social Sciences or equivalent experience
Demonstrated leadership experience in the development and delivery of programming related to life and employment skills for diverse youth facing barriers
Skilled in establishing and upholding behavioral expectations while fostering a positive work ethic and encouraging self-motivation
Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively with other team members to accomplish shared goals
Proven ability to train, supervise and lead a team
Ability to develop and facilitate programs for large groups of all ages and abilities
Class 4 license is required and the chosen candidate will be supported in obtaining this if needed
Satisfactory child abuse registry and criminal records check is required prior to employment
Training in First Aid & CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Trauma Informed Care considered an asset
