Queen Margaret’s School is seeking an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Education (ECE) Manager to lead our Early Years Centre. This is a key leadership position dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and enriching learning environment for our youngest learners. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader and a committed educator, ready to shape and guide a dynamic team in delivering a program rooted in inquiry-based, child-centred learning.
The ECE Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Early Years Centre while fostering a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere for children, staff, and families. This role plays a pivotal part in supporting the strategic growth of our early years programming in alignment with the mission and values of Queen Margaret’s School.

Key Areas of Responsibility 1. Leadership & Program Oversight
Provide visionary leadership grounded in best practices and QMS values.
Guide the development and delivery of a play-based, inquiry-driven curriculum.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children.
Manage day-to-day operations including scheduling, staffing, and enrolment.
- Staff Supervision & Development
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate ECE staff and practicum students.
Promote continuous learning and reflective practice within the team.
Facilitate team meetings and goal-setting to support professional growth.
Model high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Curriculum & Pedagogy
Champion inquiry-led and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Align curriculum with the BC Early Learning Framework and whole-child philosophy.
Integrate outdoor and nature-based learning into daily routines.
Support documentation of learning and maintain strong communication with families.
- Family Engagement & Community Building
Cultivate meaningful relationships with families through respectful, open dialogue.
Organize events, orientations, and parent meetings to strengthen community ties.
Offer resources and guidance on child development and parenting when appropriate.
Represent the Early Years Centre within the school and broader community.
- Compliance & Operational Management
Ensure full compliance with licensing and health and safety regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for licensing and school reporting.
Oversee facilities, risk management, and emergency protocols.
Collaborate on budgeting, inventory, and resource management.
- Strategic Planning & Program Development
Contribute to the long-term vision for early learning at QMS.
Identify opportunities for innovation, growth, and program enhancement.
Track and report on performance indicators, feedback, and regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Valid ECE Certificate from the BC ECE Registry (ECE/IT/SN preferred)
3–5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role in early learning
Deep understanding of BC licensing regulations and the BC Early Learning Framework
Proven leadership with empathy and professionalism
Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Knowledge of child development, inclusive practice, and trauma-informed care
Strong skills in communication, documentation, organization, and time management
Experience in independent school settings is an asset, though not required
