PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer. Creating component symbols and footprints for PCB design. Soldering, assembling and wiring sample hardware. Testing and troubleshooting electronic hardware. Using electronic lab equipment to measure and monitor circuits. Making modifications to existing designs. Documenting test results. Collaborating with the R&D team to develop and improve electronic products. Preparing samples and documentation for regulatory agencies to certify products according to safety and other standards. Creating necessary PCB and design documentation for manufacturing processes. Assisting to resolve manufacturing issues as they arise. Completing and documenting design changes to existing electronic hardware. Contributing to engineering documents including requirements and specifications. Contributing to design of mechanical, packaging and labelling components as needed. Uses Microsoft Office®, the company ERP system, and applicable graphic/PCB software. EDUCATION: Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of work experience or equivalent educational experience in electronics design, repair or assembly. MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS: Technical skills relevant to the principal responsibilities and duties described. Understanding of electronic design principles including PCB layout. Basic soldering skills. MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION: No direct reports. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move throughout the manufacturing and office areas. Alternates between sitting, standing, lifting of items and moving within the work area. Must be able to manipulate equipment used in performance of tasks. Other demands include but not limited to English oral, written, and presentation/communications skills.
