Position summary
At OmniaBio, we rely on a meticulously prepared financial data to drive our business forward. The General Accountant keeps that system running smoothly by supporting the management of our general ledger through accurate tracking, recording and reconciliation of transactions. We are searching for a skilled financial specialist to join our team to process, track, and record receivables and revenues in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The General Accountant will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a well-organized individual who can set and manage various stakeholders’ expectations and is able to drive continuous improvements and best practices in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
The employee’s services include, but are not limited to, the following:
Process month end journal entries in the ERP system (SAP S4/Hana) while ensuring accuracy of general ledger (GL) coding.
Ensure proper approvals are captured in accordance with the company’s delegation of authority policies.
Respond to inquiries on balances and provide analysis and supporting information as required.
Work with cross-functional teams and other authorized personnel to ensure timely resolution of issues
Perform payroll accounting.
Lead the preparation of month-end accruals and reconcile balance sheet accounts regularly.
Ensure accounting policies, procedures and controls are strictly adhered to.
Assist with the preparation of the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements
Support annual and ad hoc audits by preparing Audit schedules, coordinating the provision of audit samples and liaising with external auditors on other queries
Prepare financial information and reports needed for external agencies, including monthly HST tax filings, status reports for funding agencies and other information as required
File/archive documents and assist with ad-hoc administrative duties.
Strictly adhere to all compliance requirements, specifically with respect to taxation matters
Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent in business or accounting discipline
CPA or other professional designation
4+ years of relevant work experience in a similar role
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with ERP systems, SAP a plus
