This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Job Purpose
Alpha Technologies Ltd., now a part of EnerSys, has an opportunity for a dynamic and results-driven, knowledgeable WAREHOUSE MANAGER to join our Operations group in our Burnaby manufacturing facility to manage our shipping and warehouse functions.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the WAREHOUSE MANAGER will oversee operations of all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities and will play the integral role in developing, implementing and executing a best in class Warehouse department. He/she will ensure priorities related to health and safety, budgets, cost reductions, and productivity by providing training and problem solving to ensure an efficiently run warehouse.
Work Environment:
The Warehouse operates across two start times: 6:45-3:15 and 9:30pm-6:00pm. To support two shifts, this position is typically 7:30 am to 4:00pm with some overtime as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that all Health and Safety related requirements within the warehouse are met, including overseeing the warehouse equipment and maintenance, when needed
Ensuring employees are properly trained on all relevant equipment and safety procedures
Managing the warehouse team which comprises a supervisor, team leads and the line staff
Promote and enhance a positive work environment including efforts to continuously improve teamwork and establish high levels of employee involvement
Responsible for all Inventory accuracy activities, including Cycle Count Program and root cause analysis on all inventory adjustments
Implementing corrective and preventative actions to reduce or eliminate inventory inaccuracies
Training all material handlers to ensure appreciation for, and understanding of, best practices to achieve high levels of inventory accuracy
Coach and direct the team in problem solving duties (i.e. correcting errors, incorrect parts identification and parts stored in wrong bins/locations)
Coordinate and supervise any physical inventory audits that are deemed necessary
Working closely with the Production Department in order to meet the needs for managing the flow of the materials used in production while maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy
Responsible for managing the flow of finished goods to ensure of proper picking, packing and identification of customer shipments
Manage shipping priorities and create focus and ensure high quality and accuracy of work
Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure effective handover to the carriers
Pro-actively plan and schedule employee capacity across warehouse process areas to meet manufacturing and shipping demands to ensure daily production and shipping targets are met
Implement team and individual performance metrics to ensure required performance targets are met
Design, implement and manage visual performance measurements
Champion continuous improvement projects, including Lean and 5S programs
Responsible for the budget administration and management
Qualifications
Post-Secondary Diploma in related discipline with a minimum of 5 years warehousing leadership experience. Materials or Operations Management Diploma or CPIM certification preferred
High degree of proficiency with MS Office
Experience with ERP system, solid understanding of common materials transactions is essential
Experience working in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Experience with Lean and 5S Principles
Experience with overseeing all operations in the warehouse environment; close familiarity with all aspects of receiving, shipping, order picking and inventory control processes
Experience managing up to 20 employees at a time
Strong people and leadership skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Must be comfortable with hands-on management
Familiar with preventive measures, safety protocols and maintenance of warehouse equipment
