Our key focus is SAFETY, by creating a zero-injury environment. As the 2nd Class Operating Engineer, you will: Be reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer Be responsible for the safe operation and scheduled maintenance of the power plant and all related equipment including steam and electric distribution Be responsible for special projects Assist the management team to optimize mill performance and lower costs wherever possible Maintain and help coordinate an effective plant safety program. Assist with achieving the highest level of reliability for plant equipment through committed support for the Sonoco Performance System (SPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and strong ownership of the Maintenance Excellence process within the plant. To qualify, you: Possess 2nd Class Operating Engineer certification registered with the Province of Ontario. Possess 3rd Class Stationary Engineer certification registered with the Province of Ontario and are currently studying for 2nd Class Demonstrated experience working within a team-based environment, requiring a strong background in the maintenance and operations of steam related equipment Thorough knowledge of Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes, the Pressure Vessels Safety Act, Operating Engineers Act and Regulations as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS Demonstrated computer technology skills both in the office (Microsoft Office) and utilizing many micro-processor controlled/computerized maintenance devices within the plant Willing to work a 12-hour continental shifts as the Shift Engineer, as required.
