Position: Material Handler Location: Mississauga Wage: $24.13 Shift: Continental, with the possibility of changing to 7AM to 3PM. Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for transporting wet goods to all presses, maintaining staging areas, clearing empty drums & pails, loading the drum trailer, preparing ink & glue waste for return. Duties may also include removing finished goods from all slitter machine areas and packaging finished goods according to packing specs, as well as accurately receiving quantities into Radius. They are also held accountable to the Shift Supervisor for transporting work in process materials (through the production process), and supporting the production department’s needs. All employees are mandated to create a zero injury environment and engage actively in all areas of SPS. What you’ll be doing: Check Staging Areas & Clear Empty Drums and Pails Solvent Drum Management Transporting wet goods to presses Prepare all Ink waste and Glue waste returns Load empty drum trailer be responsible for removing finished goods from all slitter machine areas package finished goods according to packing specifications enter quantities into company computer reporting systems be responsible to Shift Supervisor for transporting work in process materials through the production process and support production departments prepare finished goods for shipment verify materials for Shipping/Receiving to bill of lading and packing list load and unload finished goods onto trucks communicate and coordinate with previous and following shifts maintain all company health, safety and housekeeping standards perform other duties as assigned We’d love to hear from you if you possess the following: a good level of computer and mechanical aptitude skills have prior production/warehouse experience familiarity with ISO/LO/TO a valid fork-truck license are able to work with minimal supervision are able to perform physical requirements of the job are available to work rotating shifts days & afternoons (subject to change) are 18 years of age or older have Grade 12 education or equivalent are legally entitled to work in Canada Sonoco values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
