Job Description: The Pension and Insurance Investment Management team within TBSM is responsible for: Supporting the fiduciary retirement and investment committees and senior management in overseeing the material investment portfolios of defined benefit, defined contribution and retirement savings plans (Canada, US and globally) Supporting the TD Insurance business in overseeing the investment portfolios of the TD Insurance legal entities. Job Description/Accountabilities: Lead a team of investment personnel mandated with the following key accountabilities pertaining to the pension, retirement, and insurance investment portfolios: Defining investment strategies to meet portfolio return objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable policy and risk appetite metrics. Driving asset allocation recommendations spanning domestic and foreign equities, private and public fixed income, real estate, infrastructure, and private equity investments. Design and oversight of interest rate and currency hedging programs in support of the pension and insurance investment mandates. Producing analysis and recommendations related to funding of pension plans, while taking into consideration current market conditions, actuarial funding valuations and scenario testing. Ongoing evaluation of manager, investment and fund performance and providing recommendations. Maintaining a strong performance attribution framework. Coordinating with the internal trading desk and third-party managers on portfolio hedging and rebalancing. Production of investment forecasts and plan, including investment earnings, NII and OCI projections. Maintaining ownership of related investment policies and procedures. Analysis and execution of plan funding decisions. Build and foster relationships with key internal and external business partners (investment managers, custodians, consultants, TD Human Resources, TD Insurance, etc.). Deliver investment-related insights, analysis and recommendations to executive management and fiduciary investment committees to support the decision-making process (e.g., TD Insurance Board of Directors, Investment Oversight Forum, the fiduciary retirement investment committees, etc.). Monitor and analyze developments in regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Development of analytical capabilities in portfolio construction and ALM, including evaluation and implementation of 3rd party solutions. Ensure continued development of team through coaching and mentoring. Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations: Undergraduate degree in a technical field such as Finance, Statistics, Mathematics. Actuarial designation (FSA or FCIA) and/or investment-related designation (CFA or CAIA) would be an asset. Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Strong understanding of institutional investment strategies and products across key asset classes, specifically in pension and retirement investment portfolios. Working experience in an investment-related setting (with a plan administrator, asset manager or investment consultant); experience in overseeing or managing investment portfolios for employee pension and retirement plans, or insurance entities would be an asset. Excellent business acumen, communication skills and presentation abilities; experience in delivering investment-related recommendations and communicating complex concepts to senior stakeholders. Developed track record in building and managing relationships with executive management, senior investment committees and Boards of Directors. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex issues involving a variety of considerations, while effectively coordinating with multiple stakeholders. Developed knowledge of prudent governance practices in a fiduciary setting. Established track record of building, coaching, and managing teams. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Ability to recognize issues and to recommend changes to processes to improve efficiency. Proven ability to meet multiple tight deadlines. Ability to multi-task and complete assignments for multiple stakeholders.
