The Waste Water Technician will be responsible for the reliable, safe and efficient treatment of incoming industrial waters for discharge and disposal. We are looking for ambitious and "hands-on" individuals who can adapt easily, take initiative and are looking to build their career. This individual will utilize previous experience with water treatment, water chemistry and environmental studies to complete water treatment utilizing water treatment system. The candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and work effectively within a team environment. Job Duties Collect incoming water samples, record volumes and receiver information. Perform bench testing of incoming water to determine appropriate water treatment process. Operate, monitor, maintain and trouble shoot the water treatment plant and its processes. Collect water samples from effluent and submit samples for laboratory analysis to ensure the system operates within compliance of local and provincial regulations. Communicate effectively with all members of the GFL team. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and sufficient supplies are retained on hand for treatment. Participate in GFL’s safety program including safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments. Professionally represent GFL on all client sites and look for ways to expand services and increase efficiencies. Requirements Previous experience with water or waste water treatment processes, pumps, valves and chemical treatment systems. Educational background is an asset. Previous experience with collection, submission and evaluation of water samples for laboratory analysis. Bachelor degree or technician’s diploma in Chemistry, Environmental Studies or Civil Engineering. Valid Class G or G2 Driver’s License with clean driving record. Valid Fork Lift Operator’s License is a benefit. TDG knowledge and experience. Excellent communication skills and record keeping skills. Ability to perform physical labour intensive tasks throughout the course of the day. Ability to work independently and organize tasks to completion.
