At BuildOps, we’re revolutionizing the commercial contracting industry with our cutting-edge software solution. From service management to project coordination, we’re committed to breaking barriers and fostering a team that aligns with our mission. If you’re a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, you could be our next valuable addition!
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Onboarding Engineer to join our team and lead complex data migration projects, ensuring the smooth transfer of large volumes of data from multiple source systems to a variety of target environments (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.). In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing ETL pipelines, as well as ensuring data quality and consistency in highly transactional OLTP systems. You will work closely with both technical and business teams to ensure seamless integration, performance, and data integrity throughout the migration process.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, automate, and optimize ETL pipelines to migrate data from various unknown or legacy source systems to target systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server using tools such as FlatFile, GraphQL mutations, and REST API endpoints
Define and implement data migration strategies to ensure large volumes of data are migrated with minimal disruption to business operations, including incremental load processes, full data loads, and error-handling strategies
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks within ETL pipelines by leveraging query optimization, indexing, parallel processing, and partitioning
Implement and maintain data validation, cleansing, and reconciliation processes to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of migrated data
Monitor and troubleshoot ETL pipelines during migration, providing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, implementation, and customer success managers to gather requirements and deliver scalable data solutions
Document the full data migration process including pipeline configurations, transformations, data mappings, and known limitations; provide support and training to internal teams
Continuously assess and improve ETL workflows by staying current on tools and technologies and applying best practices
What We Look For
5–7 years of experience in data migration, ETL development, or data integration roles
Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as FlatFile, Talend, Fivetran, or similar platforms
Experience with cloud-based ETL services such as AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or Google Cloud Data Fusion
Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server); familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB is a plus
Proficiency in SQL and Python
Solid understanding of data quality principles including profiling, validation, de-duplication, and reconciliation
Experience integrating data from multiple complex sources such as flat files, APIs, and legacy systems
Familiarity with OLTP systems, transaction processing, and maintaining data consistency and integrity
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
Ability to work a hybrid schedule - Monday/Friday WFH, Tuesday - Thursday, in office
Nice To Have
Experience working in SaaS companies or cloud-based environments
Familiarity with multi-tenant architectures, scaling data systems, and migrating customer data in a SaaS context
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS (Redshift, S3), Azure, or Google Cloud
Familiarity with automation tools and techniques for ETL pipeline orchestration
Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Informatica PowerCenter Developer, or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
