Veterinary Technician Assistant - Referral Surgery Lake Country, BC Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Winfield, BC, is relaunching their Referral Surgery service this fall. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated full time Veterinary Tech Assistant to join our growing surgery team in September 2025. Tri Lake's specialty surgery service is fully equipped and will be overseen by a board certified Specialist in small animal surgery with experience working at numerous multi-disciplinary referral hospitals. Prior experience with referral surgery NOT required but, previous experience in general practice veterinary surgery is a MUST. We are looking for someone that has an interest in surgery and anesthesia, a passion for patient care, works well in a team environment, has strong organizational skills, great attention to detail, and enjoys building relationships. You will be supported to grow and develop your skills and knowledge with onsite training as part of our surgery team. About Us Located in beautiful Lake Country, VCA Canada Tri Lake has been serving the community for over 40 years. We are a full-service animal hospital, just a short drive from both Kelowna and Vernon. Our hospital is equipped with an in house laboratory, ultrasound, digital radiology suite, and inhouse CT scanner. Why We Need You You will be working directly with our surgery Specialist to assist with the pre, peri and post-operative care of surgery patients. Our surgery service sees an interesting variety of cases providing a variation in the day-to-day skills required by you and ample learning opportunities. The position requires candidates to possess excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to participate in discussions as to how the surgery team as a whole can continue to uphold the highest levels of patient care. The skills that you will be trained to utilize include, but are not limited to: Restraint and Lifting of Patients Assisting with radiographs pre and post-operatively Assisting with CT scans Assisting with the collection and submission of blood and other lab samples Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home Client communication Handling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning Initiative in carrying out assignments independently And more Compensation: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It will vary depending on the experience and skills of the successful candidate.
