Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Buildings + Places Electrical Team is seeking an Electrical EIT to join our team. This position can be based out of Edmonton, AB with opportunities for hybrid work.AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit, Municipal, Commercial, Industrial water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, Environmental and Government projects.Job Summary: As a part of our continued growth, our Edmonton office is seeking an energetic and ambitious Electrical engineer-in-training to support the design and construction of buildings within the Buildings + Places business line. You will work in a team environment with other engineers, technologists, BIM specialists, and project managers to deliver projects in this sector, as well as in support of those in other business lines (such as Transportation and Water) to our clients both here in Alberta and across Western Canada. You will also be a part of multidisciplinary project teams comprising of other engineering disciplines, consultants, and architects.Major Responsibilities:Designing and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system, cable feeder sizing, soft-start and variable speed drives, standby power, and low tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems) focused on low voltage applications for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and light industrial facilities.Performing field investigation for incorporating existing conditions into construction documents.Performing construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and respond to client questions.Working within a project team environment and possessing good presentation and client interface skills.Provide electrical discipline support on all projects under some supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and sounds engineering practicesCoordinating work with other project disciplines.Working and making technical decisions based on building code interpretation and company standard practice.Staying abreast of industry standards and approaches, and best practices.Ensuring project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems.Performing assignments of limited scope and complexity. Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems.Assisting more senior level engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods.Applying standard practices and techniques in specific situations. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and registered (or be eligible for immediate registration) as an Engineer-in-Training in British Columbia.Preferred Qualifications:2 (two)+ years’ experience (ideally with an engineering firm) designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare and light industrial facilities.Experience delivering institutional, healthcare, industrial, transportation, and infrastructure projects.Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning preferably encompassing: electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 25kV, MCC and motor controls design, variable speed drives, low voltage systemsWorking experience with NBC, BCBC, VBL, CEC, ASHRAE codes and standards.Experience using AGi32, Easypower/ ETAP, AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.Familiarity with ISO quality management systems.Experience working within internal multidisciplinary teamsExperience with sustainability standards (LEED, Net Zero, Passive House, Envision) would be considered an assetExcellent written and verbal communications.Excellent attention to detail.Additional InformationRelocation is not available for this position.Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
