We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our dealership. Based in our St-Eustache office, this full-time, in-office position requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in financial management, specifically within the automotive dealership industry. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Financial Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the dealership’s financial health, compliance, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities
Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing actionable insights to senior management.
Manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processes to maintain smooth dealership operations.
Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations, including tax filings and automotive-specific financial requirements.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and prevent fraud.
Collaborate with sales and service departments to monitor inventory financing, vehicle sales margins, and service revenue streams.
Liaise with external auditors, banks, and financial institutions to maintain strong relationships and secure favorable financing terms.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to dealership operations, such as gross profit margins, floor plan financing, and expense ratios.
Provide strategic recommendations to optimize profitability and support long-term business goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role at an automotive dealership.
In-depth knowledge of dealership financial operations, including floor plan financing, inventory management, and automotive sales processes.
Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS).
Strong proficiency in dealership management systems (e.g., CDK Drive, Reynolds & Reynolds) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
Fluency in English and French is required to effectively communicate with staff, clients, and external partners in Quebec.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, in-office environment with a commitment to working on-site in St-Eustache daily.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Compensation
The Financial Controller position offers a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
