Purpose of Position:
The Mechanical Designer/Engineer will play a key role in our design team, responsible for executing projects from the initial design phase through to construction completion. This role ensures adherence to OPM standards and codes, meets and exceeds client expectations while continuously improving project efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This is an in office position.
Reporting Structure:
Mechanical Designer/Engineer reports directly to the Senior Engineering Manager
What We Offer:
Competitive base salary of $100,000 to $120,000 CND per year D.O.E

Primary Responsibilities:
Mentor, lead, and develop mechanical engineers and designers on projects
Conduct load calculations and design briefs for mechanical equipment sizing and selection
Design HVAC, and Plumbing Systems
Collaborate with other disciplines on the project design team to integrate mechanical requirements
Coordinate service requirements/connections with utility and/or municipal agencies
Attend project progress meeting and provide updates to the assigned direct report
Prepare tender and construction documentation including specifications
Perform field reviews, site surveys and final inspections
Conduct construction administration including shop drawings reviews
Assist in the development of training material, design workshops, presentations, and other educational resources for junior staff
Provide technical support to the internal BIM clash detection team in resolving conflicts between different building services systems, the building structure, and the building architecture
Stay current on new developments in relevant codes and innovative design
Assist with fee proposal preparation
Maintain client relations and develop business opportunities with new clients
Provide technical support to OPM construction team and sub-trades for troubleshooting and time/cost-efficient installation process
Experience, Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
7-10 years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems (minimum 3-5 years within Canda)
Professional Engineers (P.Eng) or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) preferred
Knowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver By-Laws, ASHRAE, CSA, CCSC, ASPE, NFPA and other applicable codes
LEED® Accredited Professional designation or Green Building Certification is an asset
Knowledge of American building services codes and standards (SMC, WSMC, CMC Title 24, UPC, etc.) is considered an asset
Skills & Proficiencies:
Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, and Procore
Ability to interpret architectural, structural, landscaping, civil and electrical drawings with minimum supervision
Proven English verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to meet sensitive timelines
Collaborative teamwork skills to achieve organizational goals
Self-motivated and proactive in handling a wide variety of tasks
Confident decision-making skills and high ethical standards
Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism
