Role Description:
The primary role of the Kindergarten Teacher is to assume responsibility for the social, emotional, and academic growth of the students, working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to, the following:
Plan and implement the academic and social-emotional learning programme for a kindergarten class.
Develop a welcoming and encouraging classroom atmosphere, ensuring student behavior aligns with the school's principles and values
Collaborate and coordinate with grade team, specialist teachers and coordinators (Languages, Music, PHE, Literacy, etc.) to ensure a cohesive approach
Support and mentor an Associate Teacher, and develop an effective working partnership
Design and implement a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students
Keep up to date with developments in the PYP, teaching resources and methods.
Ensure the safety of children with special needs, including allergies and medical conditions
Prepare reports and conduct parent-teacher conferences as per the published calendar
Be available to meet parents when requested, and foster open and supportive communications between school and home
Oversee lunch and recess as required
Lead and organise after-school clubs
A clear understanding that working hours may occasionally require extending beyond the norm from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Assist with new student assessments on one or two Saturdays per year

Qualifications:
Candidates will be expected to:
Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Hold BC teacher certification
Hold an age appropriate First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain one.
Preferred Experience/Qualities:
Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate programmes, preferably with experience teaching in the Primary Years Programme
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
