About the role
We are seeking a Software Developer II to contribute to the ongoing development of Leap, our quantum-classical Hybrid Services platform. This role is ideal for a curious, self-driven developer who is building upon a strong foundation of software engineering principles and is eager to deepen their expertise in a collaborative, innovative environment.
As a key member of our Leap Hybrid Services team, you will help design, build, and maintain features that enable developers to solve real-world, computationally complex problems using quantum-powered applications. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, and while quantum computing knowledge is not required, you'll have the opportunity to explore and grow into this emerging field
What you'll do
Collaborate with product owners and senior developers to understand requirements and implement new features from concept to deployment
Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for Leap features, from requirements gathering, development, testing, validation, production deployment, through maintenance
Maintain and improve existing systems by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting enhancements
Independently handle routine development tasks and contribute to moderately complex challenges
Troubleshoot and resolve bugs by analyzing various system and code-level factors
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
Participate in peer code reviews, offering constructive feedback aligned with best practices
Support performance tuning and scalability improvements
Raise concerns about potential blockers and collaborate with teammates to find solutions
Participate in our annual Hackathon to explore and prototype innovative ideas
About You
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with 2+ years professional software development experience
Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and application development
Experience with REST APIs - defining, implementing, and consuming
Experience working with Kubernetes for container orchestration, including deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications
Comfortable working in a Linux development environment
Experience with Git workflows, including branching, merging, code reviews, issuing pull requests, etc.
Effective communication skills—able to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely
Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn through questioning and exploration
Ability to manage your time effectively and meet deadlines with some oversight
Desire to improve processes and systems, even if support is needed to implement changes
Bonus Points
Experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar
Experience using, developing and deploying docker containers
Experience developing and deploying software for a cloud-environment such as AWS
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, including writing, testing, and maintaining infrastructure automation scripts

103,273 - 154,909 CAD per year (Burnaby)
