We are looking for an Environmental Technician with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our Canadian Air Permitting and Compliance team in Sarnia. This is a full-time position based in the Point Edward, Ontario office. The role will involve working both at client sites and in the office as needed, with partial remote work available. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows: Actively participate in and drive Montrose’s strong safety culture Support simple to moderately complex Air Permitting & Compliance projects Assist with air sampling activities, including ambient air sampling/monitoring, industrial hygiene (IH), and noise surveys. Working as part of project teams and under appropriate supervision will support the following: Create source and emission inventories Conduct dispersion modeling for regulatory approvals or incidents Compile Emission Summary and Dispersion Modeling (ESDM) reports Prepare Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) applications Complete NPRI/GHG calculations and reports Provide data management and evaluation support to project managers in the areas of ambient air quality and industrial hygiene, including importing and exporting data from various equipment datalogging applications. Utilize your knowledge of scientific disciplines to collect, synthesize, analyze, and report on data, and take appropriate actions under the direction of senior staff. Perform all duties safely to minimize risks to yourself and others in environments with potential chemical, physical, biological, and safety hazards. Compile, review, and summarize scientific and technical data, as well as relevant literature. Understand and apply the basic concepts of relevant Federal and Provincial regulations. Be available to work outside of standard hours on occasion (e.g., weekends or nights). What We Are Looking For Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Technology, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting with a focus on air compliance support and field work at industrial facilities. Proven track record of working safely and in compliance with company and client safety standards. Expertise in Excel, with a focus on data analysis, calculation development using a variety of functions, and QA/QC strategies. Dispersion modelling experience using AERMOD or SCREEN3 would be an asset Strong technical writing and communication skills, both oral and written. Valid full G driver’s license. Physical requirements: ability to work outdoors year-round, lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights.
