Job Summary The Manager, Compensation (US & Canada) is responsible for managing and executing the day-to-day operations of compensation programs for both salaried and hourly employees across the United States and Canada. This role includes administering salary structures, hourly wage programs, incentive programs, pay equity analysis, and market benchmarking. The Manager, Compensation will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, the Total Rewards team, and business leaders to ensure compensation strategies are competitive, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s goals. Principal Responsibilities Compensation Program Management Manage the administration and execution of compensation programs, including base pay for salaried and hourly employees, variable pay (bonus/incentives), and equity programs across the US and Canada. Ensure competitive compensation structures are developed and maintained for both salaried and hourly employees, regularly updated based on market analysis. Conduct regular market benchmarking and compensation analysis to ensure pay equity and competitiveness for both hourly and salaried employees. Participate in salary reviews and merit increase cycles for salaried employees, as well as wage reviews and adjustments for hourly employees, ensuring alignment with company compensation philosophy and budget. Pay Equity and Compliance Assist in ensuring pay equity across salaried and hourly employees in both the US and Canadian markets, conducting regular pay equity audits to identify and address any compensation discrepancies. Ensure compensation practices for both salaried and hourly employees comply with federal, provincial/state, and local laws in both countries. Support the development and administration of compensation policies, ensuring they reflect best practices and legal requirements for both salaried and hourly employees. Market Intelligence & Benchmarking Perform regular benchmarking studies to ensure the organization's compensation offerings for both salaried and hourly employees remain competitive within the industry. Collect and analyze market data to advise leadership on compensation strategies and to help make informed decisions related to both hourly and salaried compensation. Monitor external trends, government regulations, and market conditions to ensure the company remains competitive in both the US and Canada. Job Evaluation and Salary Structures Administer and maintain the company's job evaluation process for both salaried and hourly roles, ensuring consistency in job classification and alignment with compensation structures. Develop and maintain competitive salary ranges for various job families, levels, and functions across US and Canada for both salaried and hourly employees. Work closely with HR Business Partners and leadership to ensure salary structures for both salaried and hourly employees align with organizational goals and employee retention strategies. Vendor & Tool Management Support the management of compensation-related vendors and compensation tools used for benchmarking, data analytics, and compensation management for both salaried and hourly roles. Collaborate with external vendors to gather market data and ensure competitive pricing and services for both hourly and salaried compensation programs. Oversee the administration of compensation management systems, ensuring accurate and timely data for both salaried and hourly employee compensation. Reporting and Analytics Prepare and present compensation reports to senior leadership, providing insights on compensation trends, cost analysis, and the effectiveness of compensation strategies for both salaried and hourly employees. Analyze compensation data for both salaried and hourly employees to support decision-making and to identify opportunities for improvement in compensation programs. Assist in developing internal reports and dashboards that track compensation performance for both salaried and hourly employees and provide data-driven insights. Collaboration with HR and Business Partners Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to develop compensation solutions for both salaried and hourly employees that align with business needs and drive organizational performance. Provide guidance and support to business leaders and HR teams on compensation-related matters for both salaried and hourly employees, including offers, promotions, and internal transfers. Respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation, ensuring clear communication of compensation policies and practices for both salaried and hourly employees. Employee Education & Communication Assist in developing communication materials to educate employees on compensation programs and policies for both salaried and hourly employees, ensuring transparency and understanding. Communicate changes in compensation plans for salaried and hourly employees to employees and provide clarification as necessary. Support the development and execution of compensation training for HR teams and managers. Continuous Improvement Stay informed about compensation best practices, trends, and regulatory changes in both Canada and the US for both salaried and hourly employees. Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes for both salaried and hourly employees, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Proactively recommend improvements to compensation structures or programs for both salaried and hourly employees to better meet organizational and employee needs. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Certification in Compensation (e.g., CCP – Certified Compensation Professional) or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in compensation, with a focus on compensation program management for both salaried and hourly employees in both the US and Canadian markets. Proven experience in administering base pay, incentive programs, and equity compensation for both salaried and hourly employees. Knowledge of compensation regulations in both Canada and the US, including pay equity, minimum wage laws, and benefits. Experience in job evaluation, salary structure development, and market benchmarking. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions. Knowledge of compensation analysis tools, HRIS systems, and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex compensation information clearly to various stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
