Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 07/02/2025 About this opportunity: We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technologist to join our Analytical Services Laboratory (ASL) at the Lloydminster Refinery. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this self-motivated individual will be responsible for analyzing field samples from the Lloydminster area to meet client requested turnaround times. The ASL is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory which holds a quality system of the highest standard developed over the last 19 years and accepts oil, water, gas and various other sample matrices from the field, company facilities and the Lloydminster Refinery. Work environment: This is a full-time employee position working at the Refinery in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area. Note there is no public transportation in Lloydminster. What you’ll do: Performing analytical testing by following standard operating procedures on various water and gas samples, utilizing analytical instruments for the following analytes: pH, Conductivity, Alkalinity, Major Ions, Metals, COD, Dissolved CO2, Oil & Grease Content, TSS/TDS, BTEX and CCME F1, Natural Gas and Sulfur Gas Composition, and Volatile Organic Compounds Data capture and reporting Operating, maintaining, calibrating and troubleshooting laboratory and analytical equipment Generating and maintaining standard operating procedures Performing quality control and quality assurance checks on work performed, acting when data is non-conforming and taking appropriate corrective actions Receiving and recording samples delivered by the customers into the Laboratory Information Management System Monitoring and maintaining consumable/material inventory within testing section Providing various housekeeping duties as required, such as disposing samples Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada 2-year diploma in Chemical Technology or Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related field Eligibility for certification with ASET, Eligibility for membership with APCA will be an asset Minimum 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with focus on water and gas analysis utilizing the following instrumentation: autotitrator, IC, ICP, GC-MS, wet chemistry techniques Knowledge of water and gas analysis methodology Must possess strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation Strong understanding of ISO 17025 and its application to laboratory operations will be an asset Advanced method/instrumentation troubleshooting skills Experience with method development and method validation We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
