The Opportunity:
A Senior Software Quality Assurance Analyst is a seasoned quality assurance expert responsible for leading complex testing initiatives and ensuring the overall quality and performance of software products. This role involves developing and executing advanced test plans, mentoring and guiding junior QA team members, and driving continuous improvement in testing processes. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst III is expected to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to the design and implementation of test automation frameworks, and provide strategic insights to enhance product quality. With a strong background in QA methodologies, this role requires exceptional problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication, professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills combined with a deep understanding of software testing and proven ability to learn, adapt, and lead others are necessary for success in the role of Software Quality Assurance Analyst III. Applicants should also have proven leadership, testing, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
This position works closely with QA Analyst peers, development, product and customer success teams and reports to a Software Quality Assurance Manager and/or Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Quality Assurance
Ensure the software product deployed to production is of high quality, conforms to standards, and has minimal defects
Oversee creation and maintenance of comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on software requirements and design specifications
Perform functional, regression, integration, accessibility, performance and automated testing to ensure quality and reliability
Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of QA Analysts, providing guidance, training, and support
Oversee the daily activities of the QA team, ensuring adherence to test plans and schedules
Provide feedback for performance evaluations and team development to QA Management
Project Coordination
Coordinate testing efforts across multiple projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of QA activities
Act as the primary point of contact for QA-related issues and escalate concerns to management as needed
Process Improvement
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QA team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Implement and promote best practices in testing and quality assurance processes
Test Design & Execution
Design and execute manual and automated tests including the creation of test scenarios and data
Identify, document, and track software defects, inconsistencies, and issues using defect tracking tools
Analytics & Troubleshooting
Analyze test results to identify patterns, root causes, and potential issues
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and work closely with development teams and product owners to resolve issues effectively
Design Review
Lead and encourage participation in design reviews and provide feedback on requirements, specifications, and design to ensure testability and alignment with quality standards
Documentation
Oversee creation and maintenance of detailed documentation related to test plans, test cases, test results, and defect reports
Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects the testing process and outcomes
Collaboration
Encourage and lead collaboration with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliverables
Communicate team testing progress, results, and issues clearly and effectively to team members and management
Adhere, participate, and contribute to SAFe processes
Continuous Improvements
Stay current and mentor team with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and testing methodologies
Analyze, adapt and implement the development and enhancement of testing processes, tools, and standards
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing
Proficiency with types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, accessibility, performance, and automated testing
Proficiency with manual testing, including the creation of test scenarios and data
Extensive experience with test case design, execution, and documentation
Proficiency using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Xray, Zepher) for identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects
Comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (Especially SAFe)
Experience with continuous integration (CI) deployment practices
Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Mabl, Selenium Python)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment as well as independently
Willingness to participate in regular code reviews and team meetings
Nice to have:
Experience with Mabl automation testing platform
Knowledge of database testing and SQL
Understanding of web application testing
2+ years experience in leading and/or mentoring others
Location
This position will be hybrid with 3 days/week in our Oakville office.
