About the role The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler is looking for an Executive Sous Chef who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. The Executive Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef. We are looking for an energetic, culinary professional with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, have a passion for service and people. Applicants will be a willing team player, comfortable with computer systems and willing to accept assignments on a as need basis, in order to promote team work. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. What you will do The ability to assign prices for food items on daily menus that result in net profit for the food cost area and participates in making decisions regarding printing, layouts, posting and distribution of menus. The ability to supervise all methods of food preparation and cooking methods, size of portions, garnishing and presentation of food. The ability to coordinate and supervise the ordering of all food supplies and kitchen equipment; approves all products to meet quality standards; keeps cost accounts; and takes responsibility of food preparation areas. The ability to hire, train, discipline, supervise and organize all kitchen personnel on a regular basis. The ability to treat employees at every level of responsibilities fairly and consistently to achieve high morale and minimum turnover. The ability to maintain a consistently high level of employee morale and motivation. The ability to coordinate with the Food and Beverage Director, the Resort Manger and the Director of Catering any special functions regarding food preparation and presentation, including additional costs and staffing requirements. The ability to ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including HACCP compliance. The ability to develop innovative and creative menus that enhance the guest experience, aligning with fine dining standards. The ability to oversee and conduct regular staff performance evaluations, coaching, and recognition programs. The ability to maintain high standards of presentation, quality, and consistency expected in a luxury and fine dining environment. What you bring Culinary Degree 2-3 years or more in a Restaurant Chef de Cuisine Position or currently in an Executive Sous Chef Role. Experience in luxury hotels environment with restaurant, bar and banquet experience Strong command of the English language Requires attention to detail and problem solving skills, as well as a passion for customer service.
