GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
As a key member of the Medical Services team, collaborates with fellow administrative and physician team members to manage our Medical Services clinical operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Grade 12
Office Education/Secretarial certificate plus completion of a Medical Terminology course (OR) Medical Office Assistant Certificate OR
If no such applicant found, applicant with Office Education/Secretarial Certificate required to complete an approved Medical Terminology course, at their expense, through an approved educational institute within two (2) years of commencing the job.
Experience:
One (1) year previous experience as a Clinic Assistant (OR)
One (1) year previous experience in a health care environment performing administrative duties.
Skills:
Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Access database application.
Knowledge and experience in the use of Electronic Medical Record systems, preferably including at least one of MedAccess, Accuro, or ARIA.
Understanding of required medical terminology.
Strong financial acumen in order to prepare and submit financial reports and billing submissions.
Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
Some judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a limited number of alternatives.
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
Creative ability in developing layouts for reports, presentations, information bulletins, etc.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities.
Ability to work independently.
Maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
