We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Post-Close Underwriter - TPR Clearance to join our mortgage operations team. This dual-role professional is responsible for reviewing closed loans for compliance, underwriting accuracy, and clearing conditions identified by third-party due diligence (TPR) firms or investors. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of agency and investor guidelines, post-closing workflows, and audit remediation processes.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct post-close reviews of funded mortgage loan files to ensure loans were underwritten and closed in compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, and investor guidelines.
Validate credit, income, asset, and collateral documentation against the original underwriting decision.
Confirm that all loan conditions were properly satisfied prior to funding.
Identify and document any deficiencies, inconsistencies, or compliance issues.
Review findings and conditions issued by third-party review (TPR) firms, aggregators, or investors during post-close quality control.
Research and respond to TPR conditions with supporting documentation, updated calculations, or narrative explanations.
Coordinate with internal teams (underwriting, closing, compliance) to gather necessary documents for clearance.
Track and report status of open TPR conditions to internal stakeholders.
Maintain detailed audit trails of all communications and clearance actions.
Assist in analyzing trends in TPR findings to identify process improvements or training needs.
Requirements
Minimum 3–5 years of mortgage underwriting and/or post-closing experience.
Experience responding to TPR or investor loan reviews is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of agency and investor guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA).
Familiarity with LOS platforms such as Encompass, DU/LP, and investor delivery systems.
Excellent organizational skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate findings professionally and clearly in written responses.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
