Estimator
Home Centre - Carman, Manitoba
On behalf of our client, Homestead Co-op, we are currently recruiting for an Estimator at the Home Centre in Carman, Manitoba. Reporting to the Home Centre Manager, this role is key to providing accurate estimates, consultation, and expert advice to customers and contractor clients for various building projects.
As the Estimator, you are responsible for:
Interpret client input, specifications, and blueprints to provide detailed material and component estimates for building projects.
Prepare and present accurate quoting packages including costing, pricing, and special-order items.
Provide leadership for in-house project planning and development, including defining project scope and material specifications.
Suggest changes to designs where building codes, structural integrity, or efficiency may be a concern.
Maintain up-to-date relationships with suppliers to stay informed on industry trends and product developments.
Monitor inventory levels, forecast future requirements, and coordinate material orders to ensure adequate stock.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, designers, inspectors, and other key industry professionals.
Support the tendering process by providing comprehensive material takeoffs, estimates, and descriptive project information.
Assist customers with product inquiries and needs, and coordinate deliveries as required.
Ensure accurate documentation of quotes, site visits, safety inspections, and related reports.
Promote Homestead Co-op’s values and adhere to company programs and policies.
Elevate the presence of Homestead Co-op within the local construction and building industry by developing new contractor relationships and identifying new business opportunities
You and Your Experience:
Certificate and/or Diploma in Building/Architectural Science, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
3 years of relevant experience in construction estimating, project planning, or building material sales.
Strong understanding of construction plans, building codes, and material components.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Proficiency with Seljax estimating software is considered an asset.
Experience managing inventory and coordinating supplier orders.
A proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
