About the Role:
The Operations Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of Ashcor’s Canadian and USA based facilities. This includes full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The role also supports project accounting and acts as a liaison with internal teams such as accounts payable, receivable, and procurement.
What You Get to Do:
Full cycle accounting to support Ashcor’s operations; financial accounting, analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Record all transactions, adjusting entries and perform reconciliations
Understand and maintain inventory accounts (spare parts and finished goods)
Assist in payables processing, including requisitions, coding, receipt and tracking of invoices with and without purchase orders, and related project impacts
Coordinate with Accounting and Logistics Coordinators regarding accuracy of monthly ash delivery records and related carrier and customer invoicing impacts
Understand and communicate financial operations of the facility
Prepare monthly gross margin, expense, and unit pricing analysis
Prepare monthly operations cost report and statistical analysis
Respond to queries and liaise with ATCO Common Groups (Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams)
Assess existing processes and make recommendations for improvement
Provide scheduled and ad hoc reporting; participate in special accounting projects
Provide enhancement and system support for Salesforce
Assist in the AR process including performing: invoice runs, generating manual invoices, updating AR templates and coordinating updates with Salesforce team
Upload yearly business plan forecast and budgets to Oracle
What You Bring:
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related discipline
Five years of accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting, project accounting, monthly accounting/reporting/analysis, monthly and annual budget/forecasting
A professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA)
Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to local sites, for periods up to a day at a time is a necessity; total travel time required expected to be rare,
