Responsibilities
- Responsible to provide information, assistance, and exceptional customer service to all customers. Responds to general customer inquiries and is familiar with in store promotions, bulletins, and updates. Regularly manages heightened conflict situations where customers must be removed from the store or denied service, in a respectful yet effective manner, to balance regulatory compliance and Co-op values.
- Handles and records transactions through the point of sale terminal and prepares daily cash reconciliations. Accurately and efficiently processes and packages all customer purchases to meet established standards. This includes adhering to in-store identification requirements to prevent sales of alcohol to minors.
- Receives deliveries and completes required documentation. Moves product from loading docks into storage. Monitors, organizes, stocks, and tidies merchandise. Removes any damaged, empty, or dated products. Ensures all products are properly faced, priced, and signed.
- Performs general housekeeping duties (spills, display fixtures, washrooms, etc.) to ensure all areas of responsibility are safe, organized, clean, and tidy. Responsible for keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean of cardboard and debris including the disposal of garbage. Assist with regular clean up duties to ensure an efficient, safe, and clean location is maintained.
- To perform opening and closing procedures as directed by manager.
- Dispense gasolines, diesel fuel and propane as needed.
- To clean, fill and maintain all machines, example: slush, hot dog, coffee, etc.
- To deliver customer orders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Able to work a variety of shifts.
Strong computer skills.
A pleasant and out-going personality.
A desire and ability to work with the public.
Physically able to do heavy lifting. Must be capable of lifting up to 25kg.
Able to work outdoors.
Must successfully complete provincially required training/certification relating to the responsible service and/or sale of alcohol (ex. Serve it Right).
Successfully pass pre-employment testing as per Southland’s Alcohol & Substance Policy
Class 5 driver license an asset.
