Join our team today!Job DescriptionThe successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the care of patients and families within oncology and palliative care, reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, with professional accountability to the Professional Leader for Social Work. The social worker will be integral part of the Social Work profession team, participating in yearly strategic planning initiatives and corporate professional development. QualificationsAbility to provide coverage within Oncology and Palliative programMasters degree in social work required3-5 years experience working within a medical unit providing counselling for patients and familiesKnowledge in community resources especially related to Cancer Care and family support servicesMember of O.C.S.W.S.S.W and in good standingKnowledge and experience working with relevant legislation (i.e. SDM Act, POA, Consent and Capacity, etc.)Knowledge and experience in the psychosocial impact of both acute and chronic illness on the person and family, and an ability to assist families through the treatment decision process and terminal illnessUnderstanding of the complex issues pertaining to the palliative care including some coordinating of services such as; placement, hospice, homeExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work as part of a multi-disciplinary teamMay be required to travel between and work at all hospital campusesExcellent organization skills and ability to set priorities as requiredGood critical thinking and problem-solving skills requiredExcellent attendance, punctuality and work recordComputer proficiency preferredMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration Additional InformationHours: Currently days, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)Internal application deadline: [February 17, 2025]#LI-SC1Osler values inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
