Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Integrated Design team. The successful candidate would primarily be supporting Power Delivery and Substation Design work in British Columbia, Canada. This role would provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth. At Stantec we take pride in our ability to offer a flexible workplace. As a registered Professional Engineer, you will be responsible to work on various industrial projects. This role involves structural engineering design and analysis under minimal supervision. You would be relied on to make sound structural engineering decisions, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities
You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes. Typical structures include heavy industrial/energy infrastructure steel structures and concrete foundations. The work would primarily support power distribution and substation design projects.
Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, structural analysis software models
Work with Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.
Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.
Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents.
Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients.
Travel to local project sites as needed. "
